The image of the bird has monopolized my recent paintings in an almost obsessive way. Its meaning is two-fold; it is based in memory and in metaphor.
 
Gallery II
Many of these works in this series have collaged images, notes and letters associated with the person. They are symbolic portraits with a personal narrative of family and close friends.

Although my artwork has roots in traditional painterly abstraction, I have always considered myself a figurative artist. In my most recent paintings and mixed media works, the body reappears, it takes its form from the simplicity of childhood images.
